Taking care of your car in the cold weather

If you live some where that it gets cold in the winter time then you need to make sure you take some extra care of your car in the cold weather.  Like try to keep it out of the wind because the wind will push snow and ice into the engine compartment and this will make it harder on the engine to start.  Try and keep the gas tank above a half if the car is going to be sitting for a while like overnight or over the weekend.  If is going to be sitting for a few days try to remember to go out and start it once a day just to keep it starting good and to keep the battery fully charged.

If you do happen to run into problems starting your car because it has been sitting to long in the cold and you have sometime try putting some kind of heater by it to help warm up the engine, the gas, and the battery.  Because in the cold the gas has a harder time vaporizing.  If you don't have that much time just don't crank it over for too long at a time because you could burn out the starter.  Make sure you have something to help keep the battery charged other wise you will be left with a dead battery and a cold motor.  One other thing that will help with keeping it from freezing up is if you have a heater pack in the cooling line then plug it in at night or on really cold days.

Will I hope this will help some people from having problems in the winter and if you want to know anything else about cars or preventive maintenance let me know and I will write what I know about it or if I don't have the answer I will try and find as much information on the issue as I can and let you know what I find.

Please if you like some of my blogs and want to hear more about any of my subjects you can fellow me on Twitter or Facebook.
